Biographical
Small town, of course,
like a Mellencamp song, where
not even a red light hung,
forming away from the herd,
hiking daily, learning about
animals and land, never quite
seeming to fit in a
particular
place, though trying,
attempting
parlance but sounding
somewhat
out of kilter, then a pathway
to education and reading,
subsuming self in books,
finally
finding a voice to teach,
some words to script and
share,
a path among dense
undergrowth
of metaphor and intended
meaning.

Dear JD,
ReplyDeleteyou bring small into the spotlight under title"Biographical"
by teaching metaphor and intended meaning. I enjoyed
reading this. I can hardly wait for more.
Great word crafting.

Hello JD,
ReplyDeleteWith you all the way in the feeling of not quite fitting in. Perhaps you, like me, depend on poetry to convey a sense of place and belonging.
Thank you,
Michael
