He is Waiting--By Helen Dowd--Canada

He is Waiting

When the world is turned against you,
And you think there’s none to care;
When it seems you’re all alone, and feeling blue;
If you’ll turn your eyes on Jesus,
You will find Him standing there.
He is waiting: He has always been with you.

When the devil comes to tempt you,
Or he’s caught you in sin’s snare;
When he says that he will never let you go;
Then just turn your back on Satan,
Simply leave him standing there.
Christ is waiting: He will snatch you from your foe.

When you feel your life is hopeless,
Filled with trials and with care;
When you’re burdened down with problems and with stress;
Then just look up to the Savior,
And let Him your burdens bear.
He is waiting: He will give you happiness.

  1. Dear Helen,
    This poem shows the remarkable strength of your faith. I always try to take things that are challenging me and "give them to God." They don't always work out in my favor, but I trust God has a plan for each of us. Many of us have experienced the hopelessness and despair you describe, but all we need do is keep our faith strong. Best wishes, Carolyn Devonshire

      Dear Carolyn...Thanks so much for your encouraging comment on my poem, "He Is Waiting." Sometimes I don't feel that my faith IS strong. MY faith may not be always strong, but GOD is always there to bolster it...Being a caregiver to someone with Alzheimer's (my older sister) can be trying. I asked God this morning for patience, love, and understanding. I could be the one with A., but God has given me the privilege of caring for someone who has served Him for 50 years in India. She came to live with my husband and me in 2006. It has been a joy to have her. Her reward in heaven will be greater by far than mine.

      I know that God will be with you whenever you feel your circumstances are hopeless, and you despair, but God will keep your faith strong.

      Blessings,

      Helen Dowd....

      Dear Maurice,

      Thanks for your kind comments. I often need to re read the poem myself to remind me that God supplies patience, grace and mercy. I need that reminder every day. And yes, I will certainly look at your poetry publication, "Creative Inspirations." Please give me a day or so to "catch up!" if that is ever possible, being a caregiver....By the way, I love the picture of the butterfly.

      Blessings,

      Helen Dowd

Writing poetry has brought me much solace as I contemplate the blessing of Jesus in my life. Thank you for sharing an inspirational poem. I loved it.

      Dear Charlene,

      I love your picture. You look like a very wonderful caregiver. I pray for strength for you as you carry on the work God has given you to do. Being a caregiver can be trying. I asked God this morning to give me patience, love, and understanding for my older sister who has Alzheimer's. The tables could have been reversed, but God has given me the privilege of caring for her, who has served Him for 50 years in India. She came to live with my husband and me in 2006. It has been a joy to have her. Her reward in heaven will be greater by far than mine.

    "...Hi Helen, Your poem is beautiful, & a blessed reminder that our Lord is never distant, but our faithful companion, always attentive & there to guide & assure us. We don't have to "walk" alone on this planet earth, & are never forsaken. Thanks for sharing your inspiring words of hope & promise! God Bless you, Chris

      Dear: Christine - Thanks so much for your encouraging comment on my poem, "He Is Waiting." All we need, as your comment suggests, is just a seed of faith Matthew 17:20 - The faith you have may be just a mustard sprout. BUT....................

      With God nothing is impossible; so use your seed of faith:
      He is holding out His hand for you to take. He will smooth the way before you. He will guide you on the path. So just trust Him…His child He'll not forsake.

      God's blessing on you and your family,

      Helen Dowd

  6. Helen, this poem projects a great faith and an inspirational outlook on life, given the challenges we will all face from time to time. Your poem is like a prayer of hope. Even if those who do not believe there comes with nature a certain moment of like-faith that indisputably promises hope and light......... Sheri
