The Elves--By David Fox--United States

The Elves

Once upon a starry night
Some elves came out to play
It really was quite a sight
It was more than words can say.
The frolicked in the moonlight,
They danced around with glee,
To see them was a great delight,
They were such fun to see.
They partied until sunrise,
Until it was dawn,
For at that moment, to my surprise,
I blinked and they were gone.
Elves are just pretend, that's what others say,
But I know they're for real, for I saw them at play.

  1. David, I love your poems, they are so cool and my kids love them, they are fun and full of easy imagery to stir the imagination! I would love to illustrate your books! That would really be fun! This poem was good when I featured it and it is still awesomely entertaining! Sheri

  2. A delightful poem David...I couldn't wait to find out the ending! Enjoyable write. God bless you, Chris~

  3. David, what a delightful poem that I have no doubt is "true". Dreams can be as vivid as real life and visions the same. We've been told of elves and leprechauns so many times it is as if it really is true in our minds. Who wants to cast away a child's play. Not me. Thanks for sharing your talent once again.

  4. Sheri, Christine, Charlene and Peggy,
Thank you are for your nice comments. It does a poet's heart good to read such reviews.

  7. Joan and Jack,
Glad you both liked it. I love to write funny, or whimsical poems for children. If I ever have or adopt kids, I'll probably read it to them.
