Not Forgotten--By Eleanor Michael--United States

Not Forgotten

A carved lion,
a statue, horse and rider,
a kitten, embossed in stone,
     monuments to what
     the deceased did in life.

Are they here--
as wraiths, ethereal,
as imprint or spirit,
     wandering among the stones--
     or only memory?

Eleanor Michael has published poetry and short stories in a variety of venues.

  1. Dear Eleanor -

will we every know until we too wander or just fly away? Thank you for this thought provoking poem.

  2. I enjoyed this thought provoking poem. More than just memories, it is my belief that animals are not gone forever any more than we are when we die. Thanks for helping me remember what I believe and that I will see my beloved departed pets again.

  3. Thank you for the comments for Eleanor. I will send them by mail to her. Eleanor, it is so good to have you a part of Whispers. Thank you for sharing this this wonderful poem so rich in imagery.
