mama--By Lois Greene Stone--United States

mama

When overwhelmed from
trying to be a successful
wife, mother, job holder,
I hear her voice reminding
me that people and not things
are important; but I'm circled
by my day. When I need escape
doing childhood hobbies, she
changes guilt for squeezing
personal hours to permission
for creativity; sensing
helplessness, she embraces
with caring tones causing
me to understand how
to help myself.

  1. Hello, Lois, welcome to Whispers! Not only does your poem bring credence to "Mama" - but it also gives great wisdom in conscience, choices and in the decisions we ultimately make in a day. Good food for thought! Sheri

  2. Thank you for the reminder that itaking good care of ourselves involves more than eat, sleep, and caring for others, whether iinside the home or work outside the home. It is a balancing act--mama knew.

  7. Lois,
Even though I'm obviously not a mother myself (LOL), this poem does bring sweet memories of my mother, and I can say that sincerely. Welcome to Whispers!
