"Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife"--By Jack Horne--United States

"Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife"

We once exchanged so many kisses:
illicit furtive pleasures;
and holding hands, we'd shy from people:
survival safety measures.

The calendar was counting passion;
you waited for your freeing;
but now you've won your single status,
we come to disagreeing.

I wonder why your feelings altered:
a missing thrill of danger?
I find myself declared redundant -
and you shall seek a stranger.

Jack Horne enjoys reading and writing poetry.

  1. Hi Jack! You describe a realistic situation in which two persons engage in extra marital relationships, depending more on physical attraction than real love. Once the taboo atmosphere loses its aura, then so does the forbidden pleasure! // paul
