Special Feature Collaborative Poem--By Maurice J. Reynolds and Sheri Stanley--United States

Butterfly Ballet

By Maurice J. Reynolds and Sheri Stanley

It was just a moment
but within that moment
you landed upon the tip
of my finger displaying
resplendent beauty with wings
of sparkling hues ….
I pause just to admire
the wonderment of creation.
Definitely not ashamed to say
that I stand in awe of you….
A gentle creature filled with
splendor, passion, grace and a
peace that can set at ease
even the most frustrating of days.
Please stay, don’t fly away just yet …..

For just this micro-breath in time
this bond we share, so sweet!
But, in my heart and memory
this blessing I will see -
you, lit upon my fingertip
your lovely wings a-flutter,
in Butterfly Ballet you flow
and, melt my heart like butter.
I wish that I could fly away
with you, into the sun’s ray
One moment more before you fly
into forever on this high,
joined together, we two,
this melding, bonding unity,
of holy, goodness sanctity ……..

  1. What a wonderfully beautiful description of what butterflies symbolize and make one feel like when they light on or near a body. I loved this well written and artistic portrayal. Thank you for sharing both your talents so well.
    Love, Charlene

  8. Dear Maurice and Sheri,
I love the way your poem flows -- the sign of a wonderful co-write. It's truly a magical experience to have a butterfly land on your finger. Wish such moments could be captured in a photograph, but you have captured it beautifully in this stunning poem. There is a butterfly pavilion in Callaway Gardens, Georgia. A butterfly landed on my turquoise jacket there one day and I'll never forget it.

Congratulations on having your excellent co-write featured!

Love and blessings to both of you,
    Carolyn

    3. Maurice, I don't remember where you live, but if you are within a few hundred miles of Pine Mountain, Georgia, it is definitely worth the trip. I had a friend who loved butterflies and just months before she died, I took her to the Butterfly Pavilion. Seeing the joy in her eyes was such a comfort.

  11. Thank you, Beth Winchcombe, for the following--

Sometimes it's good to just stand and admire a creature of beauty, one of God's creatures. Everything and everyone moves so quickly in the 21st. Century. To be able to opt out for just a few precious moments helps to calm the mind and spirit. Long live the butterfly!

    Many thanks,
    Beth Winchcombe
