Baby and Great Granny--By Christine Tate--United States

Baby and Great Granny

When baby and great granny's eyes met
there was an instant connection,
a heartwarming display
of love and affection.

Great granny held baby tight
and she began to grin,
Oh to see her lovely smile
where a frown had been!

Baby kept staring at her
and she returned the stare...
their eyes said it all,
what a moment to share!

Tho baby and great granny
are many years apart,
there aren't any gaps in
the matters of the heart.

God sent down from heaven
a precious gift that day
between baby and great granny
in His own special way!

Christine Tate lives in New Jersey. She is the mother of three married sons and has eight grandchildren. She started writing inspirational poetry in 1994, and is blessed to encourage others and honor the Lord. She was widowed in 2007 and met her new husband Artie, a widower, in the nursing facility where their late mothers resided. They've been happily married for 2 1/2 years. Since neither of them ever expected to marry again, they consider it a "divine appt."

    1. Glad my poem blessed you Maurice. This story was about my mom residing in a nursing facility in 2009, & one of my grandsons 4 months old at the time! It was such a blessing to behold the connection between them before she went home to be with the Lord in 2011. Thanks for commenting, & God bless you! ~Chris

    2. What a beautiful memory you have of your mum, I am sure there are indeed many.
I was diagnosed with cancer ten years ago, given just three years to live providing I underwent Chemo and Radiation, Instead I chose natural therapy, no treatments. I asked God to grant me one wish, to live long enough to hold a grandchild in my arms. Not even a thought at that time. I was granted my wish for which I am eternally grateful. I now have held two granddaughters in my arms. One just turned four and the other will be six months in three days timer. I cannot explain but there is such a strong bond between us. I just adore them. After three sons it is lovely to have two granddaughters. Dont get me wrong, I love my sons dearly. Thank you for your lovely reply. ..... Leokadia

    3. Leokadia, What a beautiful testimony, so inspiring & encouraging, because I've witnessed the wonderful intervention of the Lord many times in my life! Guess what? I have three sons also, & 8 grandchildren, 5 of which are girls!! So I agree, I've been blessed with sons & love them dearly, but it's wonderful to have granddaughters! Thanks for stopping by to comment again. You are so sweet! God bless you, ~Chris

My other son is getting married in May to a lovely young lady; they too are hoping to start a family. So much to look forward to. I thank the Lord every day for all the blessings.
