Everyday I Fly--By Anushi Varma (Young Writer)--United States

Everyday I Fly

Everyday I fly so high
I touch the sky.
I feel the waves of black and purple sky
And my hand feels the ripples of light blues.

Everyday I fly so high
I touch the sky.
I catch the moon
and caress the sun
while playing with the stars.

Everyday I fly so high
I touch the sky.
My fingers dance in Saturn's rings
and feel Neptune's chill.
I admire Jupiter's colorful moons.

Everyday I fly so high
I touch the sky.
All by myself, in a happy room.
Only with my imagination and dreams.

Anushi Varma is 11 years old and in 6th grade at Still Middle School. She is a voracious reader and very good at drawing, painting, craftwork and writing books and journaling. After 7 years at the piano, she has now taken up the ‘cello.

You are so good at writing poetry. If I may be so bold, how long have you been writing? Welcome to Whispers!

  6. Thank you dear poets for your kind words and encouragement. I recognize some of you from your comments on Anushi's earlier submission 'Ode to my Friends' (Charlene McCutcheon, David Fox). I cannot describe what an honor this is. Thank you, thank you and thank you. David, Anushi has been writing for the past few years. It is only in the past 2-3 months that we have been confident to submit her work. With best wishes, Raveesh Varma (parent)
