See You Later ....--By Alan McAlpine Douglas--United Kingdom

See You Later ....

A kiss curl moulded on his head,
the King of rock, now sadly dead
manipulated candy kids with ease,
they worshipped him on bended knees;

this mighty cupid morphed from jive,
whose music was the most alive
and catapulted up the charts,
with lyrics that were good - in parts;

he marked our card, made Rock’n’Roll,
thus easily wins “The Fifties” poll,
with Comets in the Hall of Fame :
Bill Haley his immortal name !

Alan McAlpine Douglas, father to 5 and grandfather to 3, has been writing poetry since 1993. His idiosyncratic voice has produced thousands of poems in this time, and he finds it quite hard to stay serious, even when he means to. He also enjoys writing spoofs, using well-known poems or songs like Clementine or In the Ghetto as his models.
