Gratitude--By James Keane--United States

Gratitude

Thank you for loving me
unconditionally. For
your patience, your
compassion - especially
in the face of attitude
and behavior you find
wanting. In other words,
bless you for putting up
with me through 33 years
of marriage, and counting.

James Keane resides in northern New Jersey USA with his wife and son and a menagerie of merry pets. His poems have appeared most recently in Tipton Poetry JournalThe RavensPerchBetter Than Starbucks!, and Whispers. His poetry chapbook, What Comes Next, was published by Finishing Line Press in 2013. This past August, James and Barbara Jean celebrated their thirty-third wedding anniversary. Where did the time go?

  1. Dear James,

A sweet poem, based on love that still florishes after all these years. I wish you and Barbara Jean a lot of loving, wonderful years together.

    Kind regards,
    Inge

    1. Thank you so much, Inge. Your choice of Gratitude for November was great. As it happens, tomorrow is our Thanksgiving Day. Of all the things I have to be thankful for, the love of my wife is at the top of the list.

    2. Actually Karen suggested the topic, though in Europe we don't celebrate Thanksgiving, I thought the theme was suitable for the Whispers Activity in this time of the year. And I totally understand your number one of the 'thankful list', since I met the Love of my Life 4 years ago.

      Best wishes,
      Inge
