Christ Love--By Shirley Smothers--United States

Christ Love

Heart beats young,
heart beats old,
with a love of Christ
your heart beats bold.
Be ye rich,
be ye poor,
with a love of Christ
you'll have so much more.
The rain falls
on just and unjust.
But remember Christ
rain settles the dust.
Don't float listlessly
on a sea of confusion,
for a life without Christ
is a life of delusion.
Don't be the sand
upon the shore,
open your heart
Christ will open the door.

Shirley Smothers is a poet. A few of her poems have appeared in Lone Stars Magazine, The Poets Art, and The Poetry Explosion Newsletter.

  1. Oh my dear Shirley, you are a woman after my heart. What a beautiful poem and tribute to Christ who is not only your all but mine too. No truer words have been spoken. Thank you for sharing not only your well written poem and talent, but obvious love for our Savior Jesus Christ.
    Love, Charlene

    1. Thank you Charlene,
Someone once said that this poem was Anointed. I have to agree, God put these words in my heart so that I could share them. I love to write poetry but many of my efforts have fallen short.
      Thank you again.

This is my favorite poem. I hope that this inspires someone, maybe having a crisis of faith. I feel that God inspired this poem.

  3. Dear Shirley, I love the message in this poem and the creative meter as well. Surely, "with a love of Christ, you'll have so much more." It doesn't matter how old we are or how much wealth we have acquired. We are all equal in the eyes of God and all we have to do is keep our hearts open to His grace. Very inspirational poem! Love, Carolyn

  4. Thanks Carolyn,
I feel that this poem was inspired by God. Many of the words in this poem were memories of My time in Church. Lectures, Bible studies, and just one on one conversations helped to form this poem.
    Thank You,
    Shirley

  6. Thank You Lisa,
This is my favorite poem. Someone once told me that Christian Poetry is the lest liked poetry. Too bad. Many Christian poems I have read have inspired me.
Thank You for your kind words.
