Silence--By Mary Kent--United States

The room is quite
my eyes are closed
the only sound I hear is the beating of my heart
I listen closely--and I can hear my heart
telling my life story with each beat

  3. Hi, Mary, looks like there is a transpose in the word (supposed to be "quiet" - but that doesn't take away from your beautiful intention and what you feel from your heart. Beautiful words! Sheri /

  4. Sheri, thank you--I see the transpose my life is a
Transpose! ( laugh ) thank you for your comment.

  5. Nice opening verse, Mary. It captures the reader's attention right away, then the following verses all maintain the theme of the poem. Nice write. Enjoyed reading and meditating upon it. Thanks for sharing and continued blessings!

  9. Dear Mary,
Welcome to Whispers! Your poem is such a gentle, introspective write. Sometimes we need to remain still and listen for the heartbeat if we are to survive the chaos in the outside world. Beautifully written!

  10. Welcome to Whispers Mary, I loved your "quiet" poem. It made my heart be still. "Be still and know that I am God" is a favorite verse of scripture. We all need to take time to just be still. Thank you for sharing your talent.
    Love, Charlene

  11. Hello Mary! I very much enjoyed your short but meaningful poem. I too believe in having my 'alone' moments and listen to the silence around me. That is the time when both my heart and mind function best. Have a lovely day! // paul
