Upset For?--By Diana Dalton--United States

Upset For?

Reason to be upset
Not what it seems
The more angry I get
Eludes me what it means

A trigger pushed
Driving me insane
I feel ambushed
Yet only reveals the pain

A truth rejected
A lie believed
Oh so affected
I am deceived

Yet illusive reasons come
To tempt false perception
Feelings again to numb
And believe self deception

Or will this messenger of pain?
Invite true perception and heal
A reminder of true self again
Your choice will reveal

Diana Dalton was born in England. She grew up loving the county side which later developed and inspired her desire to capture those beautiful moments which she does through her poetry, her spiritual nature and photography. Though not a prolific writer Diana has had her poems read on Dutch radio, and has been featured in some American compilations of poetry. She will dabble and challenge herself with some recognized forms, yet most often, Diana likes the freedom of words and will take some poetic license even to inventing non existent words together with her husband and fellow poet, Yancy Dalton.

  1. Wow, Diana! There is so much said here. I guess we all get a little impatient in this too fast, too busy world that is undergoing too many changes - it makes our heads spin. Yet, as you say here, it is our choice how we react to the negative things in life that ultimately affect us. Your poem is very creatively written and expressed. I am so thrilled to be a part of this Whispers venue which gives me and all who are invited to be published herein, the opportunity to read such creatively inspiring writings! Sheri /

  2. I also wanted to add that being invited to be published in this Whispers on-line journal is awesome and plus, it offers the chance and the privilege for all of us to comment on the works of others. A joy to read you, Diana ........... Sheri /

  3. Welcome to Whispers Diana! It was a privilege to publish your wonderful poem. Glad you have already received two lovely comments. I hope you enjoy your time spent here. Best wishes with all your writing endeavors.

  4. Emotionally thought provoking - I guess we all go through this at one time or another. Nice flow with your words...Rhoda / Expressions -

    1. Thank you for you response Rhoda still trying to find my way around here.

  5. Diana, I have enjoyed "Upset For?" Makes me take a hard look at myself and the times I am upset, many times for things I can't control or do anything about anyway. Sometimes it's something simple and elegant like the words from a poet to help us to take a second look at ourselves. Thank you for sharing and continued blessings!

  9. Welcome Diana to Whispers. There are so many things that can irritate us and keep us upset if we choose. With some it has become such a habit that when they decide it is no longer working for them to take offense or be upset, rather causing increased pain, they find they cannot stop on there own. I feel to thank God for my extremities for that is where I found Jesus. He is the one who has delivered me from the tendency I myself have had to choose negativity as a response to difficult circumstances.
Thank you for a wonderful write and for sharing your talent here with us on Whispers. It caused me great reflection and I truly appreciate the write.
    Love, Charlene
