Blessed Alone Time--By Charlene McCutcheon--United States

Blessed Alone Time

Leaving the world behind, I enter my own personal utopia,
a quiet place where I am in control and at my best; inwardly
wherein no thought is allowed to disturb my chosen peace.
Freed from the negative distractions that inundate me daily,
listening intently, I hear the voice that never fails to inspire,
eternally grateful to be able to discern the magic of creativity.

Charlene McCutcheon is a 73 year old, wife, mother of seven, grandmother of thirty and great-grandmother of 14. She has just discovered her voice through poetry within the last few years. Her former ways of expression have been through the media of arts and crafts. Her desire to share herself with others for their benefit has been the motivating factor in all her endeavors. She loves life, work, play and most of all people.

  1. I so agree with your thoughts in this insightful poem Charlene. We all need quiet time to keep balanced and healthy. Especially those of us to write. Blessings, Connie

  3. I love this poem, Charlene, even more because I can relate to it. Life has become fast and busy, and being able to obtain some quality time for ourselves is important. Regards // paul

  4. Dear Charlene,
I appreciate this poem's theme of intentionally providing for periods of peace. I, too, need chair-time with the muse. From one lover of solitude to another: well-done.

  5. Indeed, at times one has to retreat or break from all the hustle and bustle of life in general and city life in particular. Sometimes it means even keeping away from certain places for a while. I am thinking of keeping away from my cell phone for a while too!
