Time--By David Sermersheim--United States

Time

at any moment
time seems without
substance or form
like air passing between
opened fingers

sensed not seen
in the interval
between events
present in memory
among us not of us

as a bird
tracing an arc above
erasing his shadow below
or a light
cutting a furrow
through the dark

David Sermersheim taught at The Hotchkiss School (Ct.) for 33 years.  His poems have been published in The Aurorean, Ancient Paths, Sacred Journeys, Iodine Review, Poetry Pacific, Miller’s Pond” and other journals and quarterlies. He was a MacDowell Fellow and has a book, Meditations, listed on Amazon.  He lives in Westbrook, Connecticut.

  1. Dear David Sermersheim of the U.S. Good timing on "Time"
History bears out a lot of what you write. To me
Time fly's on the wings of lighting, going by
way too fast. Good recorded thoughts.
