A Summer Couplet
Upon my knees in desperation the parched sand trickles through my hand
the steady drumbeat of Summer's song rolls like death across the land,,,,,

Dear Rick, your couplet described so well the way it feels to live in a drought-stricken land. Do you have droughts in Oregon? The news reports all summer showed the droughts in the Midwest. Indeed, this is the "drum beat of summer" rolling across a parched land. Your poem also makes me think of an emotional drought where inspiration falls through our fingers. Nice to read your work! ReplyDeleteDear Rick
ReplyDeleteAs usual, your poetry takes me on a journey. This one of such desolation. I am not a summer fan - this clinches it; but we have no drought.
