Special Feature Collaborative Poem--By Sara Kendrick and Doris Culverhouse--United States

Fisherman

By Sara Kendrick and Doris Culverhouse

Swimming, life carefree
Net tightens around the school
Deliverance, grace

May your hook always be cast
Where you least expect fish caught

Synergism, save
These lost fish, grateful intent
Catch and release, Life

Responsible now
Freedom, new life in warm water
Breach, spout words, joy, sing

School of life, protective school
Numbers rise with the right bait

Bait, love, nurturance
Guide... North Star...The leader Home
Reward eternal life

    1. Hi Doris,

It's good to see you here. Welcome to Whispers! It would be wonderful to get a poem, 20 lines or less, with a short bio written from the third person perspective for consideration for publication too. Thank you Sara and Doris for sharing your talent here. Congratulations on your feature!

      Blessings,
      Karen

  2. Thank you, Isha Wagner, for the following--

I have read this poem several times, admire the use of language, and find I can only understand it in metaphorical terms. We all perceive things differently, do we not, and this poem satisfies me in ways I find difficult to express. I think the two poets between them have written a somewhat mysterious, interesting poem for readers to understand each in their own way. Congratulations, Sara and Doris.

    Yours sincerely

  3. I agree, this collaboration does have an aura of mystery; yet the imagery is so clear and amazing to me. I particularly like the though of catch and release. Well done Sara and Doris. Hope this will not be your last collaboration. It's wonderful.

  5. Sara and Doris, this is a wonderful blend of two poetic minds and hearts. Love how the thoughts blend and weave softly and continuously without interference of "change of thought" and so I mark this as PERFECTO! Sheri

  6. This is very creative poetry and held my attention. Two ladies with such good knowledge of the love of fishing just for the pleasure of fishing. Ihave thrown back a lot of fish. your writing blends superbly. Bob H

  7. Sara and Doris,
Good poem. The one time I kept a fish I caught was a fluke fish, when I couldn't have been more than 10 years old. I have learned a lot since then. Let them swim free! Welcome Doris to Whispers, and Sara, pleasure reading you again.
    Yours truly,

  13. WOW! What a thought provoking poem the two of you have written Sara ad Doris.
To me the first verse tells it all. the net tightens around the school, deliverance, grace! I think of the words to a hymn I love, "Oh to grace how great a debtor, daily I'm constrained to be." Thank you for sharing your talents. I loved it!
