Almost Autumn
Summer is coming to a close
Around the third week of
September,
But, with it, there are
things
I will always remember
Camp, barbecues, a dip or two
in the pool
Or just sitting by my air
conditioner
Trying to keep cool
Going to Adventureland*,
The museum and the beach,
And trying to do anything
else
That within my reach.
Yes, now it's almost Autumn
But I need fear
My memories of Summer
Will never disappear!

Nice work, enjoyed it David!
ReplyDeleteI love summer, but must admit I spent most of it near the air conditioner instead of outdoors. :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your poem, David! Hope your autumn season goes well!
Thank you both Peggy and Poppy, submissions are coming in slowly but surely from people not afraid to pay the price of a good print magazine.

Brilliant poem, David. You left nothing on the table, save for subtleties, and this was no time to withhold dynamics...
ReplyDeleteSplendid writing, Sir.
