A
friend in need
My friend was bowed, burdened
by vain struggle,
I lent my arm, offered
understanding,
we affirmed the
lonely joy of striving.
I stood by him as he sought
to rise
and take a firming step.

ReplyDeleteThanks Rick for your contribution. As you describe real friendship in good and bad times.

true friendship indeed
ReplyDeleteThank you, Paul, Daginne, and Jack,
ReplyDeleteI always find a great learning experience when reading through the poems on Whispers, so many of our fellow poets have so much to say, and so much to teach...
I love your style, the interaction of words sitting squarely where you wanted them; it sounds delightful to read out loud.
