Special Feature Collaborative Poem--By Phyllis Babcock--Canada and Jack Horne--England

The Long-Awaited Spring
By Phyllis Babcock and Jack Horne

Spring peeked late this year
snow covered the ground
refusing to start the meltdown
the buds of spring stunted
as temperatures dipped
declining to induce warmth
needed for spring thaw

But finally, the sun returned
shy and timid at first
its confidence growing
melting ice with the warmth of its smile
filling the fields with flowers
and flooding hearts with happiness
Frost retreated...defeated for now...

  2. Dear Phyllis & Jack,

You both captured this. Sometimes we have to be patient but when Spring arrives, what a JOY!
    Thanks for sharing.

    Best wishes,
    Inge

  5. Phyllis and Jack,
Great collaboration -- maybe someone will work with me for a collaboration -- not sure how they work line by line or 1st and 2nd stanza. E-mail me @ipoetdavid2@gmail.com if anyone is interested.

  7. Phyllis and Jack, thank you for this splendid collaboration. I especially enjoyed how the first part identified a winter season that decided to just linger on, and then the second part describing how the warmth eventually prevailed. Nice job to the both of you. Thank you for sharing and continued blessings!
