Tanka--By Caroline Skanne--United Kingdom

i bury seeds
in morning sun
a flower prayer
for this earth
to be healed

crickets
in the night
your song
fills me with
summer stars

a dream
combed through
moonbeams
once more
surviving the pain

Caroline Skanne is a poet, originally from Sweden, educated in London. She lives with her family in a cottage near the river Medway in Kent. When she is not writing she enjoys photography, mudlarking, bird watching, foraging, gardening, yoga and martial arts. Her poems have appeared online and in printed journals most recently Moonbathing: a journal of women’s tanka and brass bell: a haiku journal.

  9. Caroline,
I like these -- especially the first one. With the war going on in the Middle East, this world certainly does need to be healed. I am not sure if that is what you are talking about in this tanka, these are just my thoughts.
    Sincerely yours,
    David Fox
