Time Pieces--By David Austin--United States

Time Pieces

grandfather clock
time so easy to take apart
this child
with broken heart
couldn’t piece back together

that moment
she frowned and closed the door
i checked my watch
second hand stopped
gone forever more

summer vacation

hour hand
locked on 3:00 o’clock
minute hand
but a tick tock away
“tick tock” hooray!

in my closet
out of body  out of mind
out of time
nor even strong wind
can rattle the door

  1. This is all rather brilliant, you know. I read about featured objects, but when I conclude, the verses were about something else entirely, and those featured items were props... Oh, I really, really like this set. I do.

  2. Wow, David, a wonderful birage of memorable moments, cleverly expressed moments and very cool...... Sheri

  3. Hello David. I enjoyed your poem and am humbled by your service and accomplishments. Thank you for sharing your gifts and continued blessings!

  4. I really like this piece...I like the outwardly composed countenance of the poem but the cyclone it's expressing within...

  5. I can relate to the Grandfather clock verse very well. I know many adults who can't put one back together again. Your separate moments in life hold the reader to the conclusion. Very well done. Robert

  6. Dear David :
Such a brilliant description of what can and cannot be fixed in life.
