From the Sidelines--By Peggy Dugan French--United States

From the Sidelines

infant smiles
all grown up
now charming someone else

first formal
picking the perfect tux
teenage transformation

chasing new dreams
tag & hide and go seek
a distant memory

leaving home
embracing a new town
an unfamiliar silence

“hi mom”
long distance now
loving you from the sidelines

Peggy Dugan French is a California girl with Minnesota roots. She has enjoyed being the editor of Shemom since 1997. She has worn many hats over the years, but being a Mom has been one of her greatest adventures; she’s had the pleasure of sharing that journey with her best friend.

  2. Oh Peggy, being a mother of four, your first poem has to be my favorite, but I enjoyed them all! I wish you a Mele Kalikimaka! Aloha, Connie
