Candy Wrapper--By Molly Moore--United States

Candy Wrapper

Empty candy wrapper on the sidewalk
Once containing sweet delight
If it possessed the gift of talk,
Could probably shed a lot of light

On the evanescence of all things:
Whether cherished joy or bitter sorrow,
For each the death knell eventually rings.
Then what will bring sweetness for tomorrow ?

Just a tossed wrapper along my way
Actually, quite a silly token
But, unexpectedly, on this New Year's Day,
It seems that it has clearly spoken.

Claiming Hawaii as her true home, Molly Moore is currently residing in Seattle, Washington, pursuing a nursing degree. Perhaps her previous career as an international flight attendant is what launched Molly’s "flights of fancy" into poetry. A love of rhythm and rhyme sparks her creative side, especially while outdoors in nature.

  1. There is a record of every person, every action, every obstacle.
This fine poem only serves to reinforce this belief.

  2. I really enjoyed your poem. You used rhyme which was perfect for the poem and it spoke to me on many levels. Silly token-clearly spoke is elegant. Thanks
