From Our Poetry Editor/reflexion—Inge Wesdijk ((Daginne Aignend)--The Netherlands

Dear Writers,

Writing is for me a way to express myself, some make music, others paint and I write.

Poetry has a lot in common with music and paintings, lyrics can be very poetical, and you only have to look at the subtitle of Whispers “Painting pictures with words” to see the connection with visual arts.

Whispers is a place for all who treasure the beauty of poetry, sharing and caring about the wonderful world of words.

What I love about poetry are the different styles writers compose their work, every little pearl of the mind is shown in a unique personal setting. I really look forward reading the precious valuables of our contributors.

reflexion

my thoughts are
an ongoing stream of
scattered fragments
till words are formed
into a composition
of peaceful harmony
a poem is born

I wish the Whispers' Family happy writing; don't worry about the writer's block.
Sometimes your muse needs a short time-out, don't force her, she always returns as long as you stay positive.

Best wishes,
Inge

  4. I enjoyed this, especially the connection with music and painting. While I apppreciate thoe genres, I cannot work in them. But my poetry attempt to reflect these influences or affinities, and enough people tell me it works! Well done, Inge!

    1. Dear Arthur,

I used to be a singer in a Rockband, long ago. I love music, but my heart lies with poetry & prose.
Thank you for your kind words.

    1. Dear Paul,

That's a good comparison, a mosaic is a harmonious Artwork.
Sometimes I'm struck by the poetical lyrics of some songs, I think I must write another column about that.
Thank you for your kind comment.

      All my best,

  8. Dear Inge,A lovely expression of the meaning of writing poetry.
Giving birth to a poem I believe releases endorphins that keep poets inspired to keep creating more poetry. I enjoyed your comments and your poem and I agree. Thank you and blessings on future endeavors. Aloha, Connie

  9. Dear Connie,

I agree that writing a poem can give you a feeling of bliss. When you see a beautiful flower, a scene from a movie, hear a melody from a song you have forgotten. All kind of things can be inspiring. If you are able to express your feelings in words it's a treasure for yourself and others.
Thank you for your kind comment.

    Aloha,
    Inge

    1. Thank you kindly, Molly. I often create my poems by getting my thoughts in a sense of harmony. I think a lot of poets write that way.

  14. A chunk of light worms its way through to give full light as each new sunrise enlightens us. I like to think of the rise of a new poem coming similarly but you do get those bleak days too. Those days I will look for vocabulary I might wish to use in my writing some day soon - sometimes that alone can give me a cluster of what starts as sentences and then weaves to a poem, sometimes it just flows easy as turning the tap n other times it can be a while before the muse returns. Good job!
