My Lifeboat
The Whirlpools of loneliness
were pulling me down.
You were my lifeboat.
With all my effort
I forced myself
to push towards you.
Your kisses, your smiles
your touch, saved me
from my lonely life.
To My Love,
Scott Smothers

Your poem is a wonderful attestation to that 'bond". There seems to be a slight "echo" and it is one of a certain familiarity......... beautiful! Sheri
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your kind words. I had a hard time telling my husband what he means to me. This short poem sums it up>
DeleteThank you again.
Shirley
Dear Shirley,
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad your husband has given you inspiration to write such a beautiful poem. Many of us are lonely and need a lifeboat like Scott. Give him a kiss for me. This is how true love should be. Best wishes, Carolyn Devonshire
Thank you Carolyn. I will give Scott a kiss. He means the world to me.
DeleteThank you for your kind words.

The glow of your feelings shine brightly within your words. You touch my heart - yes, I am single, but so nice reading something so lovely. I usually don't respond well to romance/love poetry - this is an exception to my rule...
ReplyDeleteRhoda Galgiani
Thank you Rhoda. This poem did touch my husbands heart. It's a short poem but sums up my feelings. I was not as lonely as the poem describes but I feel blessed to have him.
DeleteThank you again.

I can so relate to your words. And all I can say is 'ain't life grand?'! Congrats to you for finding that special someone...nothing better in the world. Kristina
ReplyDeleteThanks Kristina. Yes life can be really grand. Sometimes I have to remind myself how blessed I am. Writing this poem to my husband helped me to appreciate my life.
DeleteThank you.
Shirley
Shirley, what a beautiful tribute to your sweetheart. I loved your poem and I'm sure Scott appreciated this lovely Valentines Day poem! Thank you for sharing it with us here on Whispers.
ReplyDeleteThank you Charlene. I actually wrote this poem in December 2009. I wrote it shortly after my Fathers death. Scott was my crutch during this time and I wanted to thank him.
DeleteThank you,
Shirley
I have shared in the joy of this one; I have had 41 years with my husband and best friend and consider that I have been truly blessed because of it. Thank you for this wonderful poem.
ReplyDeletePam
Thank you Pam. Scott and I have been married 32 years. Like your husband Scott is my best friend. He should be. Who else would tolerate my bad days along with my good days, and still tell me he loves me before bedtime every night.
DeleteThanks

Wonderful to have that bond, Shirley, something to glow and crow about (grin). A really nice tribute to your Scott, your bond with him. Robert
ReplyDeleteThanks Robert. Yes we do have a special bond. Scott is there for me during good, bad, rough seas and calm. Sort of like our Saviour.
DeleteThanks again,
Shirley
Awesome poem, Shirley. Rich and powerful in love and sincerity. Continued blessings!

Thank you Maurice. You respond so positively to so many poets on this website. Your contributions keep us going.
DeleteScott and I have seen the good, the bad and we rely on each other to keep going. I feel our Saviour has helped us to show our children to never give up on themselves or others.
Thank you
