A Valued Heart
a place
past the wrinkles…
the beauty in her soul
keeps flashing in her glorious
green eyes

Karen, your vibrant words paint such a beautiful portrait of my very own beautiful and vibrant Mom! She carries the depth of beauty outwardly as it shines out from within the beauty and grace of her soul! There seems to an almost 7th sense of this nature in writers who leave the reader with a sense of "she must surely know this person"!
ReplyDeleteYour poem in its brevity is so powerful! And, you have captured the intent of this portrait! Wow! I am so in awe! Sheri / www.poetryandbeyond.net
Dear Sheri,
ReplyDeleteWhat a blessing you are! Thank you for this lovely comment. Glad you were able to find some of your Mom in this poem. It's amazing how poetry can become personal to readers--that is truly a gift which you have given me today. I appreciate your ongoing encouragement and support.
In gratitude,
Karen
The reality of growing old ... wrinkled, forgetting things ... the list goes on! Only a kind person sees beyond the wrinkles and appreciate the older person who has fought many battles and survived them all and she is what she is today. I will be this person some day, too. A very evocative write, Karen!

Karen you have such deep insight into human nature and the traits that make us what we are. The eyes, the windows to our soul, often display how we really feel about a person or other events. Thank you for the beautiful insight into our souls. Bob

Lovely inspiration Karen. Outward beauty may be in the eye of the beholder, but it fades, while inner good character has no age! God bless you!

Karen, "A Valued Heart" touches my heart with the truth of what value the heart has over outer appearances. The "beauty of a soul" is what true beauty is about. Thank you for sharing this delightful piece. Continued blessings, my friend!

Hi Karen! So lucky to read this beautiful and inspiring poem this morning. Aging beauty is a topic that many deal with in different attitudes. Yours is so very positive. This poem also reminds me of "Beauty’s Demise" by Jan Henson. Have a nice day. // paul
