NOVEMBER'S SECOND SPECIAL FEATURE
COLLABORATIVE POEM
COLLABORATIVE POEM
Autumn Picture
By Gert Knop,
Germany and Jack Horne, England
The cold wind of November
drives thoughts
like fleeing clouds.
In front of ancient walls,
gray and deserted,
paint trees
their cheerful colours
of red and yellow.
First storms
signalise themselves
with leaden clouds.
And light rain
falls above autumnal meadows
Cool evenings;
folk shuffle through frost-crisp leaves,
the moon haloed in the clear sky,
and the scent of wood-smoke
in the air.
Gloved hands are warm
but their cold cheeks are ruddy
by the time
they reach home,
to close the curtains
and sit by the fireside,
with hot tea and buttered crumpets.
Ahhhhh...
A lovely descriptive picture to be framed of a cold November day. Thanks
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind comment, I also caught a cold like Karen and it is quite nippy here at 32°F and windy. Even early snow is forecasted.
DeleteI second JT's comment. It is spot on. You engage all the senses which really brings the reader into the poem.
ReplyDeleteThanks Gert and Jack.
Thank you Jo, I am always happy to be able to co-write with Jack and thank you for your comment on our poems.
DeleteGert and Jack,
ReplyDeleteA beautiful poem. I can almost feel the cool air and taste the tea and crumpets you describe.
Your friend,
David Fox
Dear David, thank you for your comment! Yes it is always a pleasure to cooperate with Jack! Hope it's not too frosty there!
DeleteYour vivid description and imagery is so wonderful - oh I would love a hot buttered crumpet now. It is turning wintery now dark nights and cold crisp mornings and ground frost. Hugs Jan xx
ReplyDeleteThis sounds so delightful. I really enjoyed this collaboration Gert and Jack! I feel as if I am sitting across the table from you both! Thank you for this little gem! Aloha, Connie
ReplyDeleteSplendid imagery! Thanks for sharing your collaboration and ending with yummy crumpets!
ReplyDeleteDear Gert and Jack,
ReplyDeleteI appreciate both poems as the complement each other so well.
Thank you!
A truly lovely poem; well done both of you, Gert and Jack. I especially like the imagery and the contrast between the two parts. Regards // paul
