...like ripples made
when a flat stone
is thrown on calm waters...
when a flat stone
is thrown on calm waters...
is as the moment when
you trickled across my essence;
you trickled across my essence;
my memory floats
as a skipping stone
wades the shallows
of the surface testing
the temperature of your waters
before it sinks to your depths.
as a skipping stone
wades the shallows
of the surface testing
the temperature of your waters
before it sinks to your depths.

Along the surface
a stillness rises with no evidence of
my passing.

Dear Dan,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your tender poem. Within it I'm reminded of a pond in the woods of my native central Illinois home. It was a special place for me.
