A Little Bit of Heaven
The view from my sunroom
leaves me awestruck every day...
baby rabbits frolicking
and squirrels hard at play.
Young fawns sample leaves,
always stopping to stare...
larger deer not far behind
stand guard with loving care.
birds fluttering in my birdbath
bless the cockles of my heart...
what a way to end a day
or what a way to start!
I'm thankful for this vista
outside my sunroom windows...
it's a little bit of heaven,
a gift that God bestows!
Christine Tate lives in New Jersey. She is the mother of three married sons and has eight grandchildren. She started writing inspirational poetry in 1994, and is blessed to encourage others and honor the Lord. She was widowed in 2007 and met her new husband Artie, a widower, in the nursing facility where their late mothers resided. They've been happily married for 2 1/2 years. Since neither of them ever expected to marry again, they consider it a "divine appt."

ReplyDeleteI certainly can relate, Christine. Our whole house, porch and backyard are one big animal refuge. The various animals are the joy of every day. This includes possums and raccoons. Love, Dave Austin

Dear Christine, I love the view you describe from your sunroom! My sister has a similar view in Wayne, N.J. I always wondered if birds tried to use the bird baths in the winter. They do in Florida, of course, but I think they are frozen up North. I'm a N.J. native too and your poem presents a lovely picture of a state that is much maligned. Florida is nice, but I miss the snow. Excellent poem! Best wishes, Carolyn Devonshire

DeleteHi Carolyn, Thank you for taking the time to leave your lovely comment on my poem. Yes, God's creation is amazing. There is beauty in every season, that's why I'm thankful to live in NJ. I recall you mentioning that you resided in NJ too until you moved to Fl. I don't like heavy snow, but it happens now & then! Watching little creatures is such a blessing! I was raised on Long Island, so living here is the next best thing. God bless you!
Wonderful, Christine. A truly wonderful poem. It is always good to see your work. Seems like the place you were at provided some awesome and warm memories for you. Thank you for sharing. Continued blessings!

What a beautiful poem. My backyard is small. But still I love to sit on the back porch and listen to the birds and watch the squirrels.
ReplyDeleteYour poem has inspired me to go sit on the porch.
Very nice poem.
