The Poet’s Epitaph--By Terry O'Leary--France

The Poet’s Epitaph

Her words, she strewed along the sand
while breakers washed ashore.
The ripples wove designs unplanned...
a verse forevermore

Her tales, entwined in cryptic airs
where freedom's seeds are blown,
warn Guarders of the Realm ‘beware’...
her heresy is sown

Her life outlined a chronicle
along a lonesome road.
It started out as doggerel...
and ended as an ode.

Terry O’Leary defines himself as "A physicist lacking gravity...".

  1. Dear Terry,
You created a great image of her words being distorted by the waves in the first verse. It's intriguing how her tales "entwined in cryptic airs" sow heresy. I can relate to the last verse as life does seem lonely and though many of us strive for humor (doggerel), perhaps we'll end up be recalled for the "odes" we leave to the world.

Very cool reference to "A physicist lacking gravity" in your bio line. You definitely have a great sense of humor.

    Thoroughly enjoyed this poem!

    Best wishes,
    Carolyn

  2. Terry, your poem seems so sad and strikes me as abstract of life..... I disagree that you are "lacking gravity" - you are very much focused and it takes focus to "juxtaplace" these words as you have........ always great to read you, Terry. Sheri / www.poetryandbeyond.net

Sad..?? well, yeah... a bit, maybe, but if life 'ends as an ode', it will have been worth while... :-))

      I'm happy you liked it!

      Terry

I guess a physicist lacing gravity is better that an optometrist lacking focus.... ;-))

  6. Terry there are those who write for pleasure and there are those who give pleasure by everything they write. I would imagine by reading your work that you are blessed with both. When I see your name I can't wait to open your gift. This is wonderful! Aloha, Connie
