Unspoken Words--By Paul Callus--Malta

Unspoken Words

I often scribble in the sand
The words I find so hard to say
And hope the wind will come along
And blow them all your way.

Paul Callus is a Maltese author who writes both in Maltese and English. He has contributed to several anthologies. Apart from poetry he writes lyrics for songs and has published two books, one a story book aimed at children (related to his experience as a teacher) and a historical book based on research.

  2. Hi, there, Paul, welcome to Whispers! I love your poem because it comes as nostalgic to me, with a bitter sweetness that we all have known at one time or another. It kind of echoes in the brevity, too. Beautifully written! Sheri / www.poetryandbeyond.net

  3. Dear Paul,
I can remember many times when I wrote words and wished they could be carried to a loved one who was no longer in my life. When you write them in the sand, the tide carries them away, yet we still hope they have reached that special person. This is so beautifully crafted, Paul. You have an amazing talent and it is my pleasure to welcome you to Whispers.

    Love, joy and blessings,
    Carolyn

  11. Paul thank you for sharing your talent and a very well written poem that spoke so much to my soul tool.

Not being brave enough to speak my mind in my early years, I could not even write my thoughts in the sand, but buried them deep. Only in my later life did I found a way to express my deepest thoughts. Poetry is the venue that has filled my need to communicate what is truth for me. My desires and hopes to make a difference in a world that is ever seeking truth, would not be possible had I not ventured to express myself through the creative medium of poetry, but whether I help someone else or not, writing poetry has been a tremendous help to myself.

  12. Welcome to Whispers Paul, I know the depth of your poetry from reading other poems of yours. Your talent shines bright in anything you write Paul. This poem is
exceptional because in its brevity it reveals the feelings most of us have in our hearts and minds that we may not be able to convey. It is beautiful and inspiring. Blessings, Connie

Releasing the words to the wind
Unspoken words written by your hand
    The negative will soon rescind

    Thank you for this share....

Good. The things we have to say that we do have words for, but not the opportunity or perhaps the courage to speak.

Hi Paul! your poem, "Unspoken Words", in a way, reminds me of the song from years ago called "Love Letters in the Sand". It was a hit and so is your poem!

How spirited and touched words would be if words we want to say could reach others. Maybe those we care so much about could better understand our hearts. Thank you. Nice thoughts.

    2. Dear Paul,

I'm open to new writers as you already know. New writers often go to public posting sites where everything they write is "good job." A lot of misinformation is generated at these sites so new writers get a skewed view of what the current market trends are and what goes into well-written poetry. I'm so glad they have your voice and your poetry as an example for them to start their journeys.

      Blessings,
      Karen
