Tanka--By Marilyn Fleming--United States

deep in the woods
my face in my hands
I speak to
the hollowed out tree—
my red heartwood bared

Bamboo Hut, May 2016

one red apple
clings to a naked branch
winter coming on
long after it’s over
still hanging by a thread

Cattails, May 2016

downward facing dog
in the shade of the plum—
picking season
I pull up the ladder
limbs resting for a bit

Gogoyshi, Monthly 2015
