Grief
As the leaves touched the ground,
I watched how they became docile
Servants, surrendering gracefully.
This is the first time I inhaled
The presence of sadness in
My being that I almost fainted.
These leaves taught me to
Submit to sadness but I am firm
To plunge myself in bliss.
My sense of touch failed me
For I could not feel the warmth
Of the sun as it embraced.

Hi April. Welcome to Whispers. Wow. What a beautiful poem in "Grief." It is well-written and descriptive in not the "usual" way. The way you describe grief with the leaves is just amazing. I really enjoyed this. Thank you for sharing and continued blessings!

April, welcome to Whispers! Your well written poem describes grief to a T. Your metaphoric take on grief is also quite an amazing analogy. I appreciate your amazing talent and thank you so much for sharing.

Would grief indeed
ReplyDeletebe happier still
to sit atop
a setting sun?...
When time is short
and nights are long
and sweltering days
had come undone?
Would grief at rest
from turmoil be
as those who've
gone before...
as when the house wife
makes the bed;
prepares to sweep
the floor?
