Beautiful Goodbye
One lasting look
into the fire of the setting sun
floating adrift on a placid lake of blue.
Words weaved on a warm breeze
a single rose drops to the ground,
invisible footsteps lead away
from a beautiful goodbye.

With such a beautiful goodbye we must assume that a wonderful return is anticipated. However, it could be interpreted other ways. A well written poem designed to keep the reader's interest from the first line to the last. Robert
ReplyDeleteDear Sandra,
ReplyDeleteI often feel as though I am "floating adrift on a sea of placid blue." Ironically, you know I simply can't sink in the water. This is a very moving poem and I was especially impressed with the imagery. (We seem to be writing in sync once again-LOL) Love,
Carolyn
Hello, Sandra, your poem emits a kind of echo, as if perhaps reflective of reminiscing or missing someone or losing someone............ All of these embrace a certain sentimentality and an air of sadness, perhaps, but indeed stirred and inspired by one moment in a beautiful view and setting. Your poem is lovely. Sheri
ReplyDeleteBeautiful imagery!!!
ReplyDeleteLove it, Sandra. Very nice description. I love the imagery of the sun setting over the lake. Sometimes it's hard to turn away from. Thanks for sharing. Continued blessings!
