Tanka--By Anne Curran--New Zealand

shifting her plants
on the whim
of a spring breeze ...
it is a woman's privilege
to change her mind
______________

a gunshot
from over the rise
in our suburb...
he never wanted
to go to war
______________

an unseasonal
Autumn wind
stirring up talk ...
things are not
as we remember them
______________

Anne Curran is a Hamiltonian and New Zealander. She writes in awe and admiration of all those Japanese verse poets and editors who have encouraged her on this journey.

  1. Dear Anne,
I'm moved by these poems which convey deep meaning by using simple words.--Thank you.
