Shifting Sands--By Annie Jenkin--England

Shifting Sands

Fingers clasped in secret dreams,
the silence echoes, might have been...
The shifting surf on shimmering sand,
or a stolen kiss upon a hand,

and you and I together there,
the perfect pair.
Yet, as the tides plot our course
in the morning when I am gone,

If memories still linger on,
look out to sea--I will be there
as the whispering breeze in your hair,
the surf a tender kiss,
and through my life and of my choice
I know your love I will miss.

Annie Jenkin lives in Plymouth, England. Having not written poetry for many years, Annie has returned to poetry writing with enthusiasm. Her writing explores several subject areas that are insightful, humorous but can also be sensitive.
