Special Feature Collaborative Poem--By Robert Hewett Sr. and Sheri Stanley--United States

Grandma Lee’s Star Angels

By Robert Hewett Sr. and Sheri Stanley

(This poem/song is dedicated to Leokadia Durmaj of Australia,
a great poet and a greater grandma)

O, dearest Lord, please let me have just one more day
I dream to hold this new blessing on its way
Please let me breathe these precious moments of living
Leaving pure memories of joy that I’ll be giving

Sweet little one laying upon Grandma’s chest
Light as a feather here together as you rest
Close those sweet, sleepy eyes, be at peace
In my arms all worries will cease

Chorus:

Dear, precious one so trusting and so warm
My Star Angels will keep you from harm
Little angel in comfort and love, sweet dreams
My sweet song will bring you moonbeams

  1. Ah, what a beautiful lullaby. My sister just became a grandmother for the first time; a bit bittersweet, since her husband is not here to enjoy the baby. I have no doubt that Leokadia will love this tender poem. Job well done. Kristina

  3. Dear Robert and Sheri,
This eloquently written poem/song is an excellent dedication to Leokadia, a wonderful grandmother who bestows love gently and tenderly. I can almost hear the music in your words and cherish the thought of a grandchild nestled on a loving grandmother's lap. I know Leokadia will be deeply touched by this poem, just as I am. Bless you for sharing it with us on "Whispers." Carolyn Devonshire

  4. Without reading any of the above comments my first thought was what a lovely lullaby. I remember singing lullabies to my babies and grandbabies and how close to heaven I felt as I held my precious tiny ones and sang to them. I wish you could get someone to put music to your words and I could hear it sung. It was beautifully written and undoubtedly Leokadia will love it. Thank you for sharing such a touching
    poem/song.
    Love, Charlene
