Painting pictures with words.
Opening a part of the soul.
Emotion flowing with the lines.
Tapestry skillfully woven.
Reflecting thoughts artfully.
Yearning to make a difference.

Spring Hop--By Michael Escoubas and Karen O’Leary, United States
Spring Hop
By Michael Escoubas and Karen O’Leary, United States
Yes, simplicity allows readers to sit back and enjoy. Poetry of depth and insight gives others a way to enter into poetry. It's in the balance that we find the gift of words. Isha, thank you for your kind words on Michael's and my poem. It was a joy writing with him.
What amazes me is how few words it takes to get reader emotions to tune in and carny on in the flow. I believe it is great demonstration of what is and what can be done. Yancy
Great and so funny, dear Karen and Michael! Yes, those were the times of Rock and Roll and Blues. I remember once when we went to a Jazz concert with Duke Ellington and Ella Fitzgerald in Frankfurt/Main - it was their last concert there. Both are yet in my memory! And in Friedberg (Hesse) - Elvis was stationed there, we visited the museum with many exhibits.
Dear Gert, You are so right! I like the latitude we enjoy at Whispers to do a variety of artistic things. With you all the way about Elvis. He continues to be a favorite with me. Michael
Sometimes, it's nice to just write something fun. Glad you thought our collab. was funny, Gert. I want Whispers to welcome a variety of styles and views. May you both enjoy the talent God gave you.
HI Barbara, Abraham Lincoln once said to Mary Todd, "I want to dance with you in the worst way." That is what he did, too. I'm like that when it comes to dancing--I just shuffle around trying not to slip, trying not to be noticed. Blessings, Michael
I've always loved to dance but there seems to be less and less opportunities as live bands were replaced with karaoke machines. Can't dance when the singer can sing. Ha! Ha! Thank you for your kind words.
Why should poetry be complicated. Every time I read a poem and I have to look up half the words in the dictionary, I lose interest. Less is more, this poem proves it my dear editors ☺ Inge
Dear Inge, Wouldn't it be nice if writing could be captured in 1-syllable words!! Karen gets the credit--she possesses an uncanny sense of what will work. Michael
You make a valid point. Poetry is an art of communication--one shouldn't have to work so hard to enjoy it. I am on middle ground here as one or two new words expand horizons but when it gets excessive, I lose interest too. Thank you for your thoughts.
You bring up an interesting challenge. One syllable lines--wow--that would be hard to pull off. Then you have challenged us before. It would have to be something that flows and still has a goal/message. This short verse gal doesn't know how this could be pulled off in a cohesive poem. Thanks for giving me some thoughts to ponder.
Dear Molly, To tell the truth I'm a bit surprised at the enthusiasm this poem has generated, but 100% grateful. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Michael
Dear David, I like the fact that poetry makes possible such a wide range of expression with no one expression as necessarily dominate over the others. Blessings, Michael
Thank you for your lovely words on the Partners in Poetry poem. Simplicity often conveys a light-hearted feel but is not limited to this thought. Glad Michael and I kept you smiling. It was a joy to work with him.
These words take one instantly into the world of movement making one feel like dancing madly. Perhaps by sunlight or perhaps by moonlight.
ReplyDeleteDear Isha,
DeleteI really enjoyed this. Karen is teaching me about simplicity in poetry--less is more!
