Editor's Thoughts/Carry On--By Karen O'Leary--United States

Dear Friends,

I appreciate all the contributors and readers that are making our online journal a poetry community.  Through our comments we give gifts of encouragement and insight.  Several of our contributors are dealing with health issues and other challenges and are unable to participate as much as they would like.  I ask for your understanding and your prayers.

One only has to turn on the news for a short time to learn about the growing violence in the world.  Though we can’t change everything, we can make a difference.  You certainly have brought joy to my life and others.

I posted the following poem in January of 2013.  It seemed fitting to share it with you now, too.  Keep on writing!  Best wishes to all of you.

Blessings,

Karen O’Leary

Carry On

Some days are long;
the road gets tough.
We give it our all
and that is enough.

Friends share our toils
and carry us through.
We learn about love
and generosity too.

We sing of the gift
of a warm embrace.
It lifts our burden
from a weary place.

We learn to look
for others in need.
With grateful hearts,
we spread love’s seed.

Some days are long;
the road is tough.
We give our best
and that is enough.

  2. Inspiring words remembering that we are not alone in the road taken through our entire life; that give comfort and strength over a common journey; that only could be written by altruist a person like Karen O'Leary and a few of us.

I believe strongly in my life that despite what's going on around me, including any adverse circumstances I may face, that the Lord has it under control. Dear Karen,

    What a timeless piece this is, I've read it today....one of my bad days and I'm feeling wretched and frustrated. Sometimes God sends us a message of hope, today he's sent it through you Karen. Bless you for uplifting my thoughts a little.
    God bless you my friend.

  13. If everyone shared your view, the world would be a far better place, but many do not, so confusion will reign in many quarters. Still, it is inherent on those, like yourself, to stand firm and hold fast to the right.

  14. This write shows the true beauty of your own personality Karen and that is special in itself, but to also capture the way so many here and elsewhere feel daily in such careful words and lovely poem is something else. Indeed so many of us would have health and time as so much more, but even with those things life is short and would we have sufficient time to get round to reading the quantity we would really like? It's so humbling to be read and commented, to know people have actually given their time to do so when it is so precious - a true gift! Thanks for all you do for us all here Karen.
