Creature In The Night
Where cold stars exist in the dark,
serene winds whisper to trees
and scarce human ears can listen,
lone songs wail in the distance
in frozen moon's silver spotlight,
a mark left where paws had paused.
Kelly Deschler lives in Big Falls, Wisconsin. Her poem, “Creature In The Night“, was inspired by actual events that took place this winter when she discovered that a wolf had wandered near her home.

Your poem dearly reflects on my thoughts today of the constant growth and where are these poor animals to go? Naturally, they would be in one's back yard then - lost, searching - as we have destroyed their natural habitat! Your poem is very poetic and lovely! One can almost hear the sounds in the night! Hi Kelly! This is an excellent poem where vivid imagery is seen even in the pale darkness of the night, The final line appeals to sight and sends a message of 'red' awareness to the mind. Much enjoyed. // paul
